Senator Joe Lieberman spoke at the #FreeIran rally on the first day of the United Nations General Assembly held across from the United Nations Headquarters. The rally was in protest to the upcoming visit to the U.N. by the Iranian regime’s president Hassan Rouhani, and to call for the prosecution of the perpetrators of the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran, who are still in key positions within the Iranian regime, including Rouhani’s “moderate” cabinet. The protesters called for democratic change in Iran, where human rights and democracy could be stored.
