22 Municipalities of Italy’s Piemonte Province Support Grand Gathering of Iran’s Democratic Alternative in Paris on June 30, 2018.

“All libertarians in the world must support the Grand Gathering of Iranian alternative in Paris on June 30, to support the demands of the Iranian people’s uprising to change the religious dictatorship and the establishment of freedom and democracy in Iran.”

On the eve of the Iranian Alternative’s Grand Gathering in Paris, at the meeting of the Council of the Union of mayors in the region of Val de Susa, Italy, the statement “Freedom and Democracy for Iran” was debated and approved unanimously.

The statement “Freedom and Democracy for Iran”, signed by 22 municipalities in Piemonte province, states solidarity with the uprising of the Iranian people and condemns the regime’s crimes against the protesters. It also expresses its support for Iran’s alternative and Maryam Rajavi‘s 10 point plan for democratic change in Iran. The mayors of Italy also emphasized their support for the Grand Gathering of the Iranian alternative in Paris on June 30.

Referring to four decades of repression and crimes by inhumane dictatorship against the Iranian people، the statement reads:

More than 120,000 opponents and advocators of human rights have been executed and their families have been arbitrarily arrested, tortured, and some of them executed in Iran.

In the summer of 1988, following Khomeini’s decree, the Iranian regime arbitrarily executed more than 30,000 political prisoners, mostly members and supporters of the opposition movement (The people Mojahedin Organization of Iran, PMOI), in all prisons across Iran.

Supporting the Uprising of Iranian People:

Amnesty International has described the 1988 massacre as “a crime against humanity” and called for the culprits to be brought to justice. According to United Nations reports, Iran has the highest number of executions per capita in the world. But despite such repression, the world observed a wave of uprisings and demonstrations in Iran in January 2018 that soon expanded to more than 140 cities across the country. The religious regime quickly imposed massive repression to prevent the uprising of the people. The Iranian people showed the world that they are ready, along with its organized Resistance, to pay the cost of democratic change in Iran, and to establish a state based on “separation of religion and state”.

While expressing our solidarity with the uprising of the Iranian people for freedom and democracy, we announce our support to the National Council of Resistance of Iran for democratic change in Iran.

We call on the international community to make any relationship with the Iranian regime contingent upon respect for human rights and openly call for the release of political prisoners.

Supporting the massive Grand Gathering of Iranian alternative in Paris

We also support the Grand Gathering of Iranian alternative in Paris on June 30, to support the demands of the Iranian people’s uprising to change the religious dictatorship and the establishment of freedom and democracy in Iran.

Supporting Maryam Rajavi’s 10-Point Plan

We support the 10-point plan of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance (NCRI), to establish a democratic republic based on separation of religion and state, gender equality, ethnic and religious equality, non-nuclear Iran, abolition the death penalty, peaceful coexistence, commitment to international laws and conventions to ensure democracy, development and progress in Iran and the international community.

It’s time for the international community to be on the right side of history.
