Alireza Jafarzadeh, Deputy Director of the U.S. Representative Office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), appeared on CNBC on Friday to discuss the elections in Iran for the regime’s Parliament and Assembly of Experts.

He argued that the real issue is a power struggle between the rival factions and it is not a true representative form of elections. The outcome will not impact the future of the population or improve the economy.

Mr. Jafarzadeh said that the real fear of the regime’s Supreme leader is how to avoid another uprising like that of 2009 when following the elections, people called for regime change and chanted death to the supreme leader and death to the clerical system.
