More Arrests and Suppression in Iran Kurdish Region

bukan-400NCRI – At least 40 fellow Kurds, residents of the city of Bukan in Kurdistan province (western Iran), were arrested by the Intelligence Ministry agents and Revolutionary Guards on Thursday October 6.

According to reports, on October 6 the agents of Intelligence Ministry in collaboration with the Revolutionary Guards raided several homes and public places in Bukan, and arrested at least 40 citizens after severely beating them and transferred them to an unknown location.

Although the names of the arrestees are not revealed yet but several youths and some Imams of mosques and their seminary students were among those arrested.

Regarding this issue, an informed source said: “Friday payer leader and Imam of the Mosque in Ghazlian village of Bukan city along with several of his students and a number of seminary students of Jamah Mosque in Kouseh village in Bukan as well as several other individuals including Mokhtar and Mohammad Mechanic (two brothers) and 4 other brothers, Kamal, Behzad, Bahram, and Hiva Asovar, could be seen among the detainees.

No official information is yet available regarding the charges against these people or the reason for their arrest; however, according to local sources they are arrested for their religious activities and participation in sports groups and hiking.
