111101An activist mother issued a call urging the public and everyone searching for justice, to join Maryam Akbari’s quest to obtain justice for her loved ones executed in the 1980s and the 1988 massacre.

Ms. Sholeh Pakravan, an activist against the death penalty whose daughter, Reyhaneh Jabbari, was executed in 2014 for defending herself against rape by an Intelligence Ministry official, wrote in her post:

“When a loved one is executed, it leaves an irreparable scar on all the family members. The question remains for good that why and for what crime was my loved one executed? Where is her/his grave? Today, Maryam Akbari Monfared, a political prisoner with two daughters, has turned to the world public opinion to find her answer. Her question is the question of millions of people who ask why thousands of people have been executed and where their graves are. Why were they prevented from holding their funeral ceremonies?

This is a serious challenge which has preoccupied our people’s conscience. Those responsible for issuing the verdicts and those who implement the executions, must answer these questions.

“We stand by Maryam Akbari Monfared in her demand for justice. We urge all human beings who search for justice to join this campaign for justice.”
