Maryam Rajavi: Expel the IRGC from the region, and the clerical regime from the OIC
Saturday night, June 3, 2017, the Iranian Resistance’s President-elect Maryam Rajavi and a large number of prominent personalities from Syria, Yemen, Palestine, Jordan, and Algeria participated in an Iftar gathering on the occasion of Ramadan, “Interfaith Solidarity Against Extremism”, held at the central office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran in Auvers-sur-Oise, north of Paris.
Mrs. Rajavi expressed regret about the distress and division overshadowing lives of nations in the Middle East and North Africa, and called on all Muslims, both Sunnis and Shiites, to unite in solidarity and stand up to the velayat-e faqih regime ruling Iran which is the common enemy of all nations in the Middle East and the epicenter of belligerence and export of fundamentalism to countries in the region.
She proposed a three-pronged initiative and urged all nations in the region to support it: designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as a terrorist entity, expulsion of the Iranian regime from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and recognition of the Iranian people’s Resistance for the overthrow of the mullahs’ religious dictatorship and establishment of freedom.
Mrs. Rajavi urged all Muslims to unite over rejection of compulsory religion and compulsion in religion and stand up to the Velayat-e Faqih regime ruling Iran as the common enemy of all nations in the region. She noted, “The spirit of Islam abhors all forms of compulsion, coercion and forcible prohibition, ranging from imposing the compulsory veil to the forced observation of fasting and prayers by flogging and terror, to preventing the construction of Sunni mosques, and especially to imposing the rule of a government under the name of God and Islam.”
The Iranian Resistance’s President-elect lauded the stances adopted at the Arab Islamic American Summit in Riyadh and their emphasis on the Iranian regime being the source and origin of terrorism, belligerence and fundamentalism in the region. She said, “This is a stance in the right direction and now it should be able to stop the regime’s belligerence and bloodshed.”
Noting the fact that the clerical regime’s occasional resorts to pretenses of moderation in the past 38 years have not resulted in any change, she added, “The permanent policy of the regime throughout its rule has been the gross violation of human rights and brutal suppression at home. On the regional level, too, the regime has always sought to dominate the region by invasions and promotion of fundamentalism and sectarianism under the name of Islam.”
Therefore, the same policy of domination and invasions will continue for the next four years as Rouhani, the regime’s impostor president, has taken office for a second term. The only difference this time is that the recent sham election has intensified the rift and crisis at the regime’s helm and leadership level further paving the way for its overthrow.
A large number of senior officials of the Syrian Opposition Coalition as well as prominent political personalities from other Islamic countries and leaders of the Muslim community in France participated and made speeches in the Interfaith Solidarity Against Extremism conference. They included Nadhir Hakim, Director General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition; Nasr Al-Hariri, head of the Syrian negotiation team; Haitham Maleh, head of the Legal Committee of the Coalition; George Sabra, Chair of the opposition National Council; Taghrid Al-Hejli, former minister of Culture and Family Affairs in the transitional government; Moheyeddin Bananeh, Minister of Education in the transitional Government; and a large group of Syrian personalities residing in France.
In addition, French MP, Dominique Lefevbre; Sid Ahmad Ghozali, the former Prime Minister of Algeria; Anissa Boumediene, former First Lady of Algeria and Islamic scholar; Shiekh Taysir At-Tamimi, former Chief Justice of Palestine; Walid Assaf, former minister and MP representing a parliamentary delegation from Palestine; Mohammad Al-Haj, representing a parliamentary delegation from Jordan; Anwar Malik, writer and former Syrian reporter in UAE; Khalil Meroun, director of the Mosque of Évry and joint chairman of the French Muslim Committee against Extremism and for Human Rights; Dahou Meskin, General Secretary of the Council of Imams in France and joint chairman of the French Muslim Committee against Extremism and for Human Rights; Taraveh Moudibou, head of the Federation of Muslims in Cergy; Abdullah Khalaf, Coordinator of the Saad Hariri movement in France; Ismail Khalilollah, Algerian lawyer; Jean Abd-al-Wadoud Gouraud, French scholar on Islam, and Jalal Ganjeii, Chairman of the NCRI Freedom of Religions Committee, were also among the speakers.
The conference also featured a photo exhibition on the courageous six-year resistance of the people of Syria and some of the shocking scenes of the crimes of the Iranian regime and its allies in that country, which was welcomed by participants.
