On May 5, 2018, thousands of Iranian American and delegations from more than 40 US states gathered in the Iran Freedom Convention in Washington D.C. held by the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC) in the United States.

The keynote speaker was America’s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, who expressed his support for the Iranian people and called for a Free Iran. He asked the US media to go to Paris and participate in the Grand Gathering of the Iranian people this summer.

In a message to the Iranian American Freedom Convention in Washington DC, congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) expressed support for the Free Iran and said;” Congratulations on your 2018 Iran Freedom Convention for Human Rights and Democracy!

Congressman Ted Poe of Texas stated “…Your message as well as of those in Iran is a message of peace… You want democracy in Iran, not war or repression…”.

Bill Richardson, former governor of New Mexico, a democrat who also participated in the Convention took the stage and offered his support for the Regime Change in Iran, and Iranian people’s desire for a free, democratic, and non-nuclear Iran which would be at peace with its neighbors.

Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY) told the participants in the convention: “Please know that you have friends and supporters in the US Congress, willing to work toward peace and stability in Iran…”

Dr. Daneshgari an Iranian American personality in his speech, described 40-years of his personal experience with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and stated: “I have treated their sick/injured and given them money. I can testify that they are the sincerest, most dedicated and humble human beings. They are committed to their words and sacrifice their lives for their goal”.

In a televised speech to the gathering, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), thanked the participants for their support for the aspirations of the Iranian people for the establishment of freedom and democracy in their country. Referring to the uprisings that spread across the country in December and January, Mrs. Rajavi stressed that the people of Iran “seek the overthrow of the clerical regime in its entirety” and call “on the international community, in particular, the West, to support their uprising.”

Mrs. Rajavi iterated the unwarranted concessions given to the mullahs as a result of the nuclear pact signed between the Iranian regime and six world powers, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and reminded that the Iranian resistance had at the time emphasized the need for the complete dismantlement of the regime’s nuclear program. The JCPOA effectively granted the Iranian regime free pass on its human rights violations and terrorist meddling in neighboring countries in exchange for limited caps on its nuclear activities.

“Evicting the regime from the Middle East and preventing its regional meddling… is a fundamental principle that needs to be included in any agreement,” Mrs. Rajavi had said at the time.

Mrs. Rajavi also stated that the regime is in a critical state and the Iranian people are ready for more uprisings, and she underlined the need to neutralize the efforts of the regime and its cohorts to promote the policy of appeasement and the importance to be the voice of the Iranian people across the world.

Iranian Americans attending the 2018 Iran Freedom Convention called all freedom loving Iranians to attend at FreeIran2018 on June 30th, in Paris and support a Free Iran.
